AC Generator Consultants has extensive experience in the complicated, interrelated battery of tests which diagnose, evaluate, and benchmark generator stator ground wall insulation and evaluate for bar water leaks. AC Generator Consultants has been instrumental in the development and analysis of Hydraulic Integrity Test (HIT) skid tests, capacitance mapping, stator leak monitoring system and bar clip leak repair.

The HIT skid test equipment first eliminates water droplets from inside the stator water system by forcing air flow through the liquid cooled winding hoses, strands, and headers. Air flow direction and velocity is varied according to the generator configuration.

The HIT skid then vacuum dries the stator water system by evaporation with reduced system pressure. The evaporated water eliminates water puddles, accumulations and causes water trapped in internal oxide deposits to outgas. Clean and dry liquid cooled stator windings can be tested at high voltage without significant internal leakage current through stagnant water accumulations.
